My son and I caught the LA Kings playing the Chicago Blackhawks this evening. The Kings won in overtime. Whew! Thank you, Jeff Carter, for the game winner! But I couldn’t help notice the solid rock music choices shaking the Staples Center throughout the night. Pre-game featured more of an EDM flavor with a DJ spinning tunes, but once the game started standards like Guns n’ Roses’ “Welcome to the Jungle” and “You Could Be Mine” pumped up the crowd. But tonight I share two songs that stood out to me tonight:
“Stolen Dance” by Milky Chance, a German fold duo, was a pre-game standout–the chill before the heat of the game.
During the game, hearing Fall Out Boy in the midst of 70s & 80s rock bands like Led Zeppelin, GnR, the Clash, and the Outfield was a fun and pleasant surprise. The game was fun, but having a great soundtrack made the low-scoring defensive game all the better.
“Uma Thurman” by Fall Out Boy
